Vintage NOS Suzuki KG Style Luggage Rack With Wood & Chrome Top GT750 GT550

Offered for quick sale is a pretty interesting & cool piece, a vintage, probably for Suzuki, luggage rack with choice of wood or chrome rear platform or cross-pieces. We got this in a load of parts & accessories from a Suzuki dealer who closed his doors 20 years ago and we were finally able to acquire his inventory. There were a lot of old GT accessory items, so that’s why I’m thinking GT, but could be early GS. Most of his stuff was marked but unfortunately these were not, probably because they are KG style and back in the day you would have bought the generic rack and a SPECIFIC mount kit for your machine. There were no mount kits that we could find and KG will not work. Fitment at the front would have been via a “forward arm” which like KG is a round tube that slides into the rack and has a mounting hole at the front end. Tighten up the bolt on the bottom and use one of the two mounting holes rear of that and you’re all set. That’s exactly how the KG stuff mounted. At first I thought KG forward arms would work, but I found out that the KG arms are larger diameter than this rack has. The forward tubes are right at. 580.585 on the inside. KG tubes are right at. 725 on the outside, so no go. Shouldn’t be too hard to fabricate some forward arms?? Find a round bar that fits into the tube and weld a slotted or drilled tab on the end I would guess. No way you could turn the KG arms down that far. Back in the day yours truly was a bit of a KG expert because my sales job required it, so if you have any questions, please call or send us a note. No rust or pitting. The wood slats may be teak wood? They sure do look great. Not sure about that. There was also a chrome plated rack platform with this piece, so you can go wood or chrome. Like I stated above, no hardware or mount kit other than what is shown in the pics. The upper holes in the side mounting plates are for the addition of a backrest or sissy bar. Eye appeal is phenomenal. This sure would look great on a vintage Suzuki triple, twin or four. PLEASE NOTE: I’ve got another one of these but it didn’t come with the choice of tops, and is a 1-piece design. Looks just like the KG “Sport Rack” which was KG’s smaller rack.
